We'll back the Rangers as they look to avoid the series sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon. I like the starting pitching advantage that Texas has in this game with Nathan Eovaldi going against Jose Berrios. Eovaldi is coming off a poor outing against the Diamondbacks but the Rangers still managed to win that contest. There's no question Eovaldi has pitched incredibly well overall this season, logging a 2.77 FIP and 0.88 WHIP. Berrios has posted a 4.43 FIP this season. He does come off a strong start against the Cubs but prior to that had given up 11 earned runs over his previous four outings, lasting six innings just once over that stretch. I think this price is a bit of an overreaction to the way this series has gone so far. Take Texas.

ü  Bet on road favorites priced at –100 and greater (more negative). 

ü  That favorite has batted 0.295 or better over their last 20 games. 

ü  The game occurs after the 40th game of the regular season.

The Brewers are on a 14-game win streak and based on my analytics and predictive models, look to make it 15 straight wins. Previous teams that have won 14 or more games have gone 11-6 since 2013, when the Braves priced as -235 favorites lost the Marlins. 

The all-time MLB record for consecutive wins (pure victories, without ties or losses interrupting) is 22 games, set by the 2017 Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) from August 24 to September 15, 2017. This streak remains the longest in the modern era (post-1900) for consecutive wins.

Note that some sources reference the 1916 New York Giants' streak of 26 games without a loss from September 7 to September 30, 1916, but this is technically an unbeaten streak that included a 1-1 tie on September 18 against the Pittsburgh Pirates (called due to darkness after six innings). The Giants actually won 12 games, tied one, and then won 14 more, so their longest pure win streak within that period was 14 games (matching the Brewers' current run). MLB officially recognizes the Giants' mark as the longest unbeaten streak but distinguishes it from pure consecutive wins.

I do remember attempting to face the A’s when they went on their historic win streak and is featured through the money Money Ball. This was before I had developed more than 5,000 betting algorithms and taught a very valuable lesson never to assume that any team is DUE to lose simply because of the length of their win streak. No team is due to win no matter how long the losing streak has been. Both strategies are sure fire ways to lose money.

The Dodgers and Padres are worth a flyer on the under. This is a big matchup with two veteran pitchers in Darvish and Glasnow. Darvish threw a gem last time out as he allowed just 1 run in 6.0 innings to the Giants. Glasnow counters and he has been very solid as of late. The RH is striking out a lot more hitters and he’s working deep into games. This will have a playoff feel and the under is worthy of a move. My daily free plays are meant to be cheap bankroll plays.
