Game: Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets May 4 2012 10:35PM
Prediction: Denver Nuggets
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: At 10:35 pm, our selection is on the Denver Nuggets minus the points over the Los Angeles Lakers. Admittedly, the Purple and Gold have been impressive in bolting out to a 2-games-to-none lead in the series vs. Denver, but I'm still not jumping on Kobe & Co.'s bandwagon. This is still a team that covered just nine of its final 29 regular season games. Indeed, even though it won Game 2, it also failed to cover, so it's covered just 10 of its last 31 games (regular and post-season combined). Also, for all of Los Angeles' size advantage, it still isn't out-rebounding Denver in the series. In Game 1, the Nuggets and Lakers both pulled down 56 boards, and then in Game 2, Denver actually out-rebounded the Lakers 59-56. But those two games, of course, were in Los Angeles; Friday's Game 3 will be at the Pepsi Center in Denver, where the Nuggets have gone 20-13 this season (compared to 18-17 on the road). Likewise, Los Angeles was much worse away from Staples Center this season (15-18 SU and 11-21 ATS, compared to 28-7 SU at home). Take Denver minus the points. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
