SCOTT SPREITZER'S AFTERNOON ANNIHILATOR! *9-2 Run!: Scott Spreitzer is releasing his 5th AFTERNOON ANNIHILATOR of the baseball season on Sunday. Scott's 3-1 with these plays in 2012, and he's a sizzling 9-2 with April Afternoon Annihilators the last 2 diamond seasons. It's been a tough week for Scott in MLB, but he's ready take the books deep on Sunday!
Game: Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks Apr 22 2012 4:10PM
Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: I'm backing the Diamondbacks on Sunday as they look to salvage one of their four weekend meetings with the Braves. Atlanta had been hitting everything near the plate until the fourth inning of yesterday's game, going scoreless over the final 6 innings of action. They added to their win streak, however, as a 3-2 lead through the first 2 1/2 innings held for the rest of the contest. But at least the D-backs finally cooled off the Atlanta bats and I believe Ian Kennedy will continue the solid work on Sunday. The D-backs are 27-9 in his 36 starts since the beginning of the 2011 season. Kennedy owns a 2.95 ERA & 1.11 WHIP, with 215 strikeouts and only 58 walks. He's pitched extremely well in his two starts against the Braves. Atlanta's Randall Delgado could be in for some tough luck in this one. He's walking too many batters, but he's been getting away with it in starts against the Astros & Pirates. The 22-year old Panamanian import has allowed 5 free passes in just 10 1/3 innings. He's been tagged with a 1.65 WHIP thus far in 2012. I'm betting he'll be "just what the doctor ordered" for the Diamondbacks to snap their skid. Arizona averaged 5.3 rpg in home day games against righthanders last season and I expect them to handle Delgado in this one. Besides the 27-9 run mentioned above, the "Snakes" are 32-12 as a -1.25 to -1.75 favorite. I'm laying the price with Arizona on Sunday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
