Game: San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies Apr 16 2012 8:40PM
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: 20* Play on San Diego vs. Colorado Over. If there's one stadium the Padres offense can put up some numbers, it would be here in Colorado, and against a fly-ball pitcher that we expect to fade often this season (Jeremy Guthrie), we'll take the over tonight as we expect this game to fly past the posted total of nine runs.
Jeremy Guthrie is a fly ball pitcher, which does not suit his home ball park where the ball travels better than anywhere else. And in his lone home start last week, Guthrie allowed six runs in just 3 1/3 innings (including two home runs) which we view as a precursor for what's to come as the season goes on.
San Diego counters with Cory Luebke, who has a 5.40 ERA in two starts back in his pitching-friendly home confines, but now takes on a Colorado offense that is scoring 6 runs per game here at home. Luebke pitched here in Colorado once last year and once in the 2010 season with both of those games going over the total. Both starters not clicking on all cylinders right now, and we look for this one to sail over the total before the bullpens come in! 20* Play on San Diego vs. Colorado Over.
