Game: Denver Nuggets at Houston Rockets Apr 16 2012 8:05PM
Prediction: Houston Rockets
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: Houston took a shot to the chin last night as it lost in Denver, its third straight loss to fall a game behind the Nuggets for seventh place in the Western Conference. The Rockets are just a game ahead of Phoenix for eighth place so they need to start winning again. They looked great for a half against Denver but things fell apart in the second half and they trailed by as many as 23 points in losing their second straight matchup against the Nuggets. They get a chance for immediate payback tonight. The win for the Nuggets was their third in their last four games and their fourth in their last six games with all four wins coming at home and the two losses taking place on the road. Denver has not been too bad on the highway this season, going 14-15 but it is just 7-12 in its last 19 after starting off 7-3 in its first 10 road games. Obviously this is a big game for the Nuggets as well as they would like to create some space against Houston as well as inch closer to Dallas but it won't happen here. This is the second game of a home-and-home which bring in the no rest situation on both sides and that clearly favors the home team here. Houston is 12-8 ATS in the second of a back-to-back set this season but most importantly, the Rockets are a perfect 8-0 ATS this season when that second game is at home. Conversely, the Nuggets are just 6-9 ATS when playing with no rest which includes going 0-4 ATS when the first game is at home and the second game is on the road. This line has gone up since its opening which is due to the fact of last night's result and the status of center Marcus Camby who left last night's game with a back issue, is unlikely to play tonight which doesn't help. His rebounding will be missed but it should not be too big of an absence as backup Samuel Dalembert is a solid replacement. Denver is just 1-11 ATS in its last 12 games following a win while the Rockets are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games against teams with a losing road record. 9* (714) Houston Rockets
