Game: New York Mets at Atlanta Braves Apr 16 2012 7:10PM
Prediction: Atlanta Braves
Grade: Loser (-170)
Reason: I'm laying the price with the Atlanta Braves on Monday. New York swept the season's opening series with the Braves, including a 1-0 win over ATL with today's starter, Tommy Hanson on the bump. The ATL righty was a tough-luck loser in that one, but I expect Hanson to help the Braves exact some revenge tonight. Hanson sports a 3.48 ERA & 1.21 WHIP in 8 career starts against the Mets and the team is on a 4-0 run when he toes the rubber against teams with a winning record. Hanson has completely dominated the hottest Met of them all, David Wright, holding him to a .150 batting average in 20 career head-to-head meetings. Wright has been "punched out" an average of 2 out of every 5 bats when facing Hanson, and Turner Field is Wright's worst NL park, where he's hitting just .250. Mets' starter Dillon Gee has been tagged for a 5.17 ERA & 1.43 WHIP in his last 17 road appearances (16 starts), and he's averaged less than 5 IP per start in 3 starts at Turner. I'm laying the price with the Braves on Monday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
