Sam is coming off a WINNING 2011 MLB CAMPAIGN and he's picked up where he left off last year - don't miss out!!
Game: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres Apr 6 2012 10:05PM
Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers
Grade: Winner (115)
Reason: 15* Play on LA Dodgers. We backed the Dodgers yesterday in their 5-3 win over the Padres, and we'll back them again here tonight - this time in the underdog role as we once again look for San Diego to struggle at the plate. The Padres only managed five base hits in last night's loss despite LA starter Clayton Kershaw leaving after three innings with a stomach virus, but that didn't seem to matter as San Diego's bats looked very similar to the team that hit just .221 in their home ballpark last season, and matched their average scoring output of just 3.1 runs per game.
The Dodgers are looking for a good start from Chad Billingsley, who fared very well against San Diego last season. In two starts, he allowed a combined two runs on eight hits in 13 innings of work. And after yesterday's dismal offensive performance, we look for a similar type of outing against this Padres lineup.
SD starter Cory Luebke was shelled by the Dodgers last year, allowing nine runs in 13 1/3 innings combined over two starts - with the Padres losing both of those games by identical 6-2 scores. LA started their new "era" off on a winning note, and we look for them to start to build some momentum with another easy win here tonight! 15* Play on LA Dodgers.
