Game: Dallas Mavericks at Miami Heat Mar 29 2012 8:05PM
Prediction: Miami Heat
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: This is a big game for Miami for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the Heat need to get back to winning after suffering consecutive double-digit losses at Oklahoma City and Indiana, the first time this has happened since LeBron James and Chris Bosh came to Miami. Playing at home should definitely help as Miami is 20-2 and has not lost here since January 22nd. Not only do the Heat look forward to ending the losing streak but they get to do it against the Mavericks. This is the first time Dallas has come to town since winning the NBA Championship last season and with it taking place here, the Heat want payback. Granted they have already gotten some retribution as they won at Dallas on opening day but this is different. They admit they are not using that as motivation but you can bet they are still. "This is the time now for us to start making a change," James said. "We went through a little blip, that's what it is. We need to start making a change now." Reading around and seeing what Dallas is talking reveals that it is out for revenge from that Christmas Day defeat as it 'left a bad taste in their mouths'. Good luck with that. The Mavericks showed in that game it had no interest in playing so they can only blame themselves for that one. The Mavericks have won two straight as they swept a home-and-home with Houston but they are just 9-11 over their last 20 games including a 2-8 record on the road and overall this season they are just 4-11 against the NBA's top ten. Miami has a 14-game home winning streak with the margin of victory in those games just over 10 ppg. The two days off came at a great time as it allowed one day of rest as well as a very intense practice yesterday. Miami falls into a spectacular situation here as well as we play on home favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points with a winning percentage between .600 and .750 that are coming off a road loss by 10 points or more, playing a team with a winning record. This situation is 41-17 ATS (70.7 percent) over the last five seasons. 9* (704) Miami Heat
