BIG AL's SLAPSHOT CLUB: 26-10 THURSDAY NHL WINNER: Al McMordie took it on the chin here last night, as he was 0-4, including an NHL loser on the San Jose Sharks. That dropped Big Al's Hockey Hot Streak here to 54-26 his last 80, and he looks to rebound tonight with an NHL Winner out of a 26-10 Situation. Don't miss it.
Game: Florida Panthers at Minnesota Wild Mar 29 2012 8:05PM
Prediction: Florida Panthers
Grade: Loser (-130)
Reason: At 8:05 pm, our selection is on the Florida Panthers over the Minnesota Wild. There are just six games left in the regular season, and the Panthers can taste their first-ever Division Championship and just their fourth-ever trip to the post-season. The Panthers may not be happy that four of those six games are on the road, but they must be thrilled that they begin this stretch by visiting arguably the two worst teams in the league, beginning with a trip to Minneapolis tonight. The Blue Jackets may be hands down the worst team in the NHL, but the Wild - by virtue of the fact that they've only scored 161 goals this season - almost certainly have to be considered the worst offensive team in the league. Minnesota comes into this game tonight on a three-game losing streak in which the team has only managed to put the puck in the net a total of three times and that pretty much sums up the season for the Wild. Minnesota has a plethora of injuries as well and certainly at this point in the season, home-ice advantage for a team that is going nowhere is pretty much a non-factor. With the Washington Capitals' continued collapse in the Southeast Division, the Panthers now have a five point lead and they have to be psyched knowing that they can wrap things up pretty soon. And perhaps when they meet the Caps in the next-to-last game on April 5, the Panthers will already have the division locked up. With the Wild having lost 26 of their last 36 games, we'll back the Panthers tonight. Take Florida. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
