Game: Cincinnati at Ohio State Mar 22 2012 9:45PM
Prediction: Ohio State
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: Cincinnati vs. Ohio State – (9:45 EST) battle of Ohio takes place tonight in Boston with the Bearcats playing the Buckeyes. Cincinnati has advanced to the Sweet 16 with hard fought wins over Texas and Florida State. Both games went right down to the wire. Ohio State opened with an easy win over Loyola but struggled a bit in the last game overcoming a pesky Gonzaga team to win by seven points. They just missed the cover as 8-point favorites. In that game versus Gonzaga, Ohio State’s main man Sullinger only played 29 minutes due to foul trouble. This is an interesting matchup tonight as Cincy plays rough and tough Big East type of basketball. That shouldn’t affect this Buckeye squad that can mixes it up with other Big 10 opponents. The Big 10 has four teams playing this weekend and it should have been five but Purdue faltered in the last few minutes and gave the game away to Kansas. Anyway, we think that Ohio State has way too much for this Bearcat squad. Cincy is not a very good shooting team hitting only 42% of their shots and are an awful free throw shooting team connection on only 64% of their freebies. Meanwhile, OSU is a very good shooting team hitting 48% of their attempts and over 70% from the free throw line. This Buckeye team doesn’t get enough credit for their defense led by point guard Craft who may be the best defensive point guard in the country. Ohio State allows opponents to shoot only 40% from the field. Cincy used their press and pressure defense to disturb Florida State causing 17 turnovers. However, Ohio State is a good ball handling team committing and they won’t be affected by the Cincy pressure. Cincy had a nice run but it comes to an end tonight. Play on Ohio State.
