Game: Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets Mar 22 2012 8:05PM
Prediction: Houston Rockets
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: Houston was on a 17-7 run heading into the All-Star break and was settled right in the thick of the playoff picture but it had been all downhill since then. The Rockets did win their first game out of the break over Toronto but they have gone just 4-8 over their last 12 games and have fallen into eighth place in the Western Conference with Utah trailing by just a half-game and two other teams within two and a half games. A big win over the Lakers Tuesday should get some of that momentum back. The Warriors are well out of the playoff picture and the revamped roster is going to go though a lot of bumps to close out the season. One of those was not last night as Golden St. snapped a four-game losing streak with a nine-point win in New Orleans. However they were outshot by nearly six percent from the floor and were very fortunate with a 14-29 (48.3 percent) performance from long range. Overall the Warriors have been very solid playing with no rest but have lost both games with the new roster in place. Houston has been one of the typical NBA teams that plays well at home with the opposite taking place on the road. The Rockets are 17-6 at home and just 8-16 on the highway and the ATS records reflect that as they are 15-8 ATS and 9-14-1 ATS respectively. The Rockets will be out for some revenge as well as they lost the first meeting this season in Oakland by nine points and while it wasn't decided until the fourth quarter, the Warriors did dominate that game. The Rockets are 13-7 against teams ranked outside the top 16 in the league while Golden St. is 9-16 against teams ranked within that. The big spread is no issue here a Houston is 6-2 ATS as a favorite of seven or more points and it is 7-1 ATS in its last eight home games against teams with a losing road record. Also, it is 33-17 ATS in its last 50 games against teams allowing 99 or more ppg. The favorite is a perfect 6-0 ATS the last six meetings while the Warriors have gone 0-6 ATS in their last six trips to Houston. 9* (806) Houston Rockets
