Game: Nashville Predators at Pittsburgh Penguins Mar 22 2012 7:05PM
Prediction: Pittsburgh Penguins
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Pittsburgh Penguins over Nashwille. There's no hotter team in the NHL right now than the Penguins and the main reason is goal-scoring. Sidney Crosby is back from his concussion-related symptoms that forced the All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist to miss much of the season, and his play-making ability along with the scoring talents of Evgeni Malkin and James Neal have created perhaps the most potent offense the league has seen this season. Neal and Malkin have 78 goals between them, and since Crosby's return they have been even more potent than they were earlier in the season as on Monday night they combined for five goals (and four assists) in an 8-4 Penguins demolition of the Jets. In fact, including the Monday night massacre, the Penguins have now scored 25 goals in their last five games, and have totaled less than five goals in only one of those contests. For the Predators part, it doesn't bode well for them that they come into this game against arguably the best offense in the league having just given up six goals in their last game - and against the lowly Oilers no less. Pittsburgh is 33-11 at home off a four goal win. Take the Pens. As always, good luck...Al McMordie
