Sam Martin's 15* NL GAME OF THE WEEK ($25)!!: The Whiz Kid's BLOWOUT NBA WINNER ON WASHINGTON LAST NIGHT (WON BY 28) pushed his current NBA STREAK TO 14-3 ATS, but Sam doesn't like any of tonight's games on the hardwood. Instead, he's offering up BOTH OF HIS MLB WINNERS ON TUESDAY FOR JUST $25!!
Game: Washington Nationals at San Diego Padres Apr 24 2012 10:05PM
Prediction: Washington Nationals
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: 15* Play on Washington. The Nationals are not yet getting much respect from the linesmaker despite their fast 12-4 start to the season, but we'll gladly back them here at a great price to keep their winning ways going against an awful offensive team in the Padres. San Diego has now played six consecutive games without reaching double-digits in base hits, and with a red hot Gio Gonzalez on the mound for Washington we look for that streak to continue in another poor offensive effort.
Gonzalez didn't look good in his opening start of the season vs. the Cubs, but has found his groove with back-to-back stellar starts against the Reds and Astros. In those two games, Gonzalez didn't allow a run, going seven innings in both starts while allowing a combined four base hits. And he'll face a San Diego offense here tonight that hitting just .214 as a team on the season, and even worse .188 here at home.
Padres counter with Clayton Richard, who is just the opposite of Gonzalez. Richard looked good in his first start, but has since fallen apart with 16 runs allowed (12 earned) in just 11 1/3 innings of work against the Rockies and Dodgers. Washington won't need to score much tonight to finish on top of the Padres, but they way these teams and pitchers have been playing of late this one might just get ugly from the onset. 15* Play on Washington.
