Game: Washington Nationals at San Diego Padres Apr 24 2012 10:05PM
Prediction: Washington Nationals
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: At 10:05 pm, our selection is on the Washington Nationals over the San Diego Padres. For four seasons, lefthander Gio Gonzalez loved pitching in his A.L. home park in Oakland, putting up a 21-14 record there and he should love his new home park in Washington, although it is not thought to be quite the pitchers' venue that Oakland is. Another place he should love pitching in now that he's in the N.L. is Petco Park in San Diego. This will be Gonzalez's first appearance at Petco, and although he's never started a game San Diego, he should find out pretty quickly that this place is pretty friendly to all starters, lefthanders included. And the Padres are once again one of the weakest hitting teams in the N.L. which has been the case the last several seasons regardless of where they are playing, so their 5-12 start in 2012 is not surprising. The Nats took three of four meetings in San Diego in 2011. Take Washington. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
