Game: Florida Panthers at New Jersey Devils Apr 24 2012 7:35PM
Prediction: New Jersey Devils
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: With game six at home, and with their backs against the wall, we will back the New Jersey Devils. Panthers at first glance seem like in inexperienced club, but with home ice and several battle hardened veterans with playoff experience, they are in New Jersey to take on the Devils and all that remains of their Cup Dynasty in the 90's and early 2000's in Martin Brodeur. The Devils and the future Hall of Famer were embarrassed in game 3, with the Panthers winning 4-3, Brodeur was pulled for backup playoff veteran Johan “Moose” Hedberg. New Jersey went right back to the face of their franchise for game 4 and he responded posting a 4-0 shutout of the Panthers, stopping all 26 shots. Florida had goalie problems of their own with the duo of Jose Theodore and Scott Clemmensen. Clemmensen came in for releif in the game four beatdown and was rumoured to start in game five back in Florida, however Theodore got the nod and responded with a shutout of his own in a 3-0 victory. The Panthers broke out winning games two & three, and that has them with the edge coming into game six, after what has been a back and forth series. The teams have now traded shutouts, and so far in the NHL playoffs teams facing elimination have been very hard to put away, with all teams going 5-2 in their first elimination game. Oddly enough road teams have had enormous success in these playoffs, going 27-17, but this series is the lone series that has more wins on home ice, we will follow that trend and go with the veteran goalie and squad on home ice. Back the Devils tonight, good luck.
