Game: Cincinnati Reds at Washington Nationals Apr 15 2012 1:35PM
Prediction: Washington Nationals
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: I'm backing the Washington Nationals as they look to make it six straight wins. Washington enters Sunday haven taken the first three games of their four-game set with Cincinnati. The Reds have been horrible in this situation, currently on a 0-6 slide after losing the first three games. As a team, the Reds are hitting just .191 and they aren't likely to find their "bats" in this one. The Reds are 0-7 in road day action against lefthanders, averaging just 3.54 rpg since the start of last season. We went against them on Thursday in this spot and cashed the ticket with the Reds scoring just 2 runs in a 10-inning Nationals' win. Southpaw Ross Detwiler takes the bump for the home team today. He's faced the Reds three times in his career, including twice at home, allowing just 4 earned runs with 13 strikeouts in 12 innings. The Nats have won each of his last four starts. Washington owns MLB's tops staff overall, sporting a 1.82 ERA...and they own a .170 BAA. The pen, by the way is currently MLB's third best. I believe Cinci is in for another tough afternoon at the plate and I'm backing the Nationals as they look to extend their overall run to 22-6 going back to last season. Thanks! GL! Scott.
