Game: Toronto Raptors at Atlanta Hawks Apr 15 2012 6:05PM
Prediction: Atlanta Hawks
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: At 6:05 pm, our selection is on the Atlanta Hawks minus the points over Toronto. Atlanta's playing solid basketball, and currently has a 35-24 record, which places it in the 5th slot in the Eastern Conference standings. But the third seed is not entirely out of reach, as Indiana only leads the Hawks by two games in the loss column (and the Hawks would win the tie-breaker, should the teams finish the season deadlocked). Atlanta's next two games are against this Toronto squad (they also play tomorrow night up in Canada), and it will catch a bit of a break tonight, as Raptor point guard Jose Calderon will miss the game because of a facial injury. It also doesn't hurt that Atlanta is 10-1 SU its last 11 games vs. the Raptors, and in its lone defeat, Joe Johnson was injured, and didn't play. But in the other 10 games -- all wins -- Johnson has averaged 23.9 ppg. Finally, Atlanta falls into a 149-89 ATS 'momentum' system of mine which plays on certain teams off blowout wins (Atlanta routed Orlando by 28 on Friday), while Toronto is a poor 35-59 ATS when playing with double-revenge. Take the Hawks. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
