Game: Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics Apr 7 2012 9:05PM
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "over": The Seattle Mariners and Oakland A's are about to close a very unique opening series to their 2012 regular season. Playing the first two games of this series in Japan, returning to Cactus League action for the final week of March, and then starting the final two games back in Oakland. Bartolo Colon and Felix Hernandez both started games (although not against each other) and both went for 8 inning in dominant where their sides earned victories (Colon got the win, Felix received a no decision), but that was in the nice confines of the Tokyo Dome. The advantage goes to the hitters in this situation, where they were shut down by these veteran starters less than a week ago, the offense on both sides will have an advantage seeing each hurler's best stuff already- and this is opening weekend. Simply put, it is alot to ask of the baseball gods for a pitcher to be able to shut down a squad twice in a week, much less opening weekend of the season. We get the advantage of the low total based on the body of work of these fireballers, but with Colon at the end of his career and Felix not at 100% in his velocity (reports surfaced he has not hit over 93 mph) we like the chances of these hitters catching up with with the arsenal of these starters and we will see some runs scored in Oakland. *10* LATE-BREAKING MLB O/U BLOWOUT on the OVER!
