Game: Phoenix Coyotes at Minnesota Wild Apr 7 2012 8:05PM
Prediction: Phoenix Coyotes
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the visitors: We are going to go with the team who's playoff future is most clearest after a win tonight. With a regulation or OT/SO win, the Phoenix Coyotes can clinch the Pacific division title (3rd seed) and home ice in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. If they should suffer a loss or even come away with a single point, the winner of the Kings/Sharks game later this evening will decide 3rd seeding in the West. In the Coyotes' favor, they are facing the Minnesota Wild who have mailed in their season long ago. Minny has been extremely 'Wild' this season at one point sitting in first place in the NHL in late Fall only Phoenix goaltender Mike Smith has had an incredible break out season, and he has saved his best play for the final week of the season. Last night we backed him on the road at St. Louis and cashed in with a 4-1 victory. Smith saw his 3+ game shutout streak snapped at 234:25, and with a win tonight he could move into Hart Trophy (MVP) or Vezina (Best Goalie) consideration. Back the Coyotes who have complete control of their playoff destiny and will send Minnesota to the golf course as Phoenix prepares for a long playoff run in the desert. *10* LATE-BREAKING NHL BLOWOUT on the PHOENIX COYOTES!
