Game: Atlanta Braves at New York Mets Apr 7 2012 1:10PM
Prediction: Atlanta Braves
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: 15* Play on Atlanta. We're backing one of our favorite pitchers of last season here today as Jair Jurrjens takes the ball for the Atlanta Braves in a near pick 'em spot against the RA Dickey and the New York Mets. Ton of line value here backing Jurrjens, who was outstanding on the year and we look for another good season from the right-hander this year.
Jurrjens put up good numbers last season with a 13-6 record and 2.96 ERA, but even more impressive is the fact that he excelled on the road, going 6-3 with a 3.61 earned run average in 11 starts. And his career numbers against the Mets is also impressive, owning an 8-4 record and 2.94 ERA - and that includes seven shutout winnings in a 4-0 win last April.
Dickey had a rough beginning to last season, posting a 1-5 record in the first eight games (2-6 team start record) and was shelled for four or more runs in half of those eight starts. He doesn't have a good track record against this Braves team going just 1-4, and he picked up the loss in each of his last three meetings against Atlanta last season. Both teams lineups struggled in the opener, with the Mets taking a 1-0 victory, but we have faith Dickey will make enough mistakes for Atlanta to get some early runs while Jurrjens looks strong in his first start of 2012! 15* Play on Atlanta.
