Game: Toronto Blue Jays at Cleveland Indians Apr 7 2012 1:05PM
Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the visitors: Both teams lucked out with a day off following their first game of the season, and even more-so after the 16 inning marathon that ended up being the longest game in Opening Day history. After going down 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, the Jays sent the contest to extra innings with a furious rally in the top of 9, with the Jays pitching staff throwing 13 scoreless innings. This afternoon, these teams send to the hill, Brandon Morrow for the Jays and Ubaldo Jimenez for the tribe. The great Ubaldo is coming off a brutal season that saw him move to Cleveland from Colorado. Finishing with a losing record of 10-13, Ubaldo still has high strikeout to inning ratio but has struggled through spring training and will need to keep his ERA down to have any success in the American League. Morrow is being looked upon as one of the veteran arms in a young Jays rotation, and while he finished 11-11 last year, he looks to improve upon a very successful 203 K's in only 179 innings. If they Jays are to have any serious team success Morrow, along with Romero will need to form a nice 1-2 punch. We are going to back a young, hungry and vastly improved Blue Jays team as they continue their roll from a very successful spring training. Jose Batista went deep in the opener and no doubt will get looks at League MVP if the Jays are able to contend. Take the low juice and start off a winner early this weekend; *10* VERY EARLY BLOWOUT on the TORONTO BLUE JAYS!
