Game: St Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Apr 7 2012 4:05PM
Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: I'm laying the short price with the Brewers on Saturday. Yesterday's results weren't too surprising when you consider how poorly Yovani Gallardo has fared in his career against the Cardinals. But I expect Zach Greinke to slow down the Redbirds on Saturday. St. Louis averaged just 3.9 rpg in road day action against righthanders last season - and of course, that was with Albert Pujols on the roster. The Cards will send Adam Wainwright to the bump in a tough spot, especially since he'll be making his first start since the 2010 season. Milwaukee finished 18-5 and averaged 5 rpg in home day games against righthanders last season and they're on a 42-12 run at home against righties in general. The Cardinals' biggest question mark to me isn't how they'll replace Pujols' bat, but instead, can their bullpen hold up? Yesterday, the pen was touched for 3 earned runs and 5 hits in 3 innings. I expect the Brewer bats to make the suspect pen pay in this one. Besides the big-time runs mentioned already, the Brewers are on a 57-20 run as a home favorite of -1.10 or higher. Greinke's teams are on a 17-0 run when he takes the home bump. I'm laying the short price with the Brewers on Saturday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
