Game: Carolina Hurricanes at Florida Panthers Apr 7 2012 7:35PM
Grade: Push (0)
Reason: At 7:35 pm, our selection is on the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers 'over' the total. If the Florida Panthers are going to win their first-ever Division Title, it's going to come down to the very last game of the season. The Panthers have two more points than the Caps (92-90) and although both teams have clinched a spot in the post-season, if they finish with the same amount of points, then the team with the most victories would be the Division Champ and that would be the Caps. So the best way to ensure that title - and the third seed in the playoffs - is for Florida to simply beat the Hurricanes and not count on the Rangers to beat the Caps in their game which goes off about an hour earlier than this one. This won't be an easy win for the Panthers as the 'Canes have actually scored more goals than Florida this season and they have split their last 10 meetings, so you can expect the Panthers to come out firing as they will try to put Carolina in a hole early. The over is 10-4 in the 'Canes last 14 road games, and Florida's gone 'over' the total 78.9% of the time off 3+ losses the past two seasons. Take the 'over.' As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
