Game: Winnipeg Jets at Tampa Bay Lightning Mar 31 2012 7:05PM
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on the "over": Dream matchup for the over has Winnipeg travelling to Tampa Bay to take on the Lightning with a glimmer of a playoff hope still alive. Winnipeg has been on an offensive tear nailing the over 8 of their last 10 and I will reiterate what I said yesterday when I took them on the over and scored the victory. Winnipeg has an up and down style that suits highly offensive games. Their top 2 scoring forwards Evander Kane and Blake Wheeler and top 2 scoring defensmen Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom have missed a total of 50 man games this season and all are scheduled to be in the line up Saturday night. Guaranteed odd man rushes all night! Tampa Bay is an over hitting machine! In 77 games this season, they have gone over an amazing 50 times, couple that with the streaking hot Jets and this game is a can't miss guarantee! In the past 6 games that the Lightning have played, there have been a total of 47 goals scored. Thats an average of 7.83 goals per game. It would be crazy not to ride the Lightning band wagon the rest of the season! The Lightning's best player has been exactly that as of late, Steven Stamkos has 7 points in his last 4 games and 7 points in 4 games played against Winnipeg this season! With a league leading 55 goals on the season expect Stamkos to lead the charge. The goaltending matchup is irrelevant as neither Winnipeg or Tampa Bay have a goaltender in the top 25 in the league in save percentage or goals against average. Whoever is thrown between the pipes will be facing a barrage of rubber all night. *10* EASTERN CONFERENCE BLOWOUT TOTAL OF THE YEAR on the OVER! BONUS: For a number of different reasons I believe the value of this contest is on the New Jersey Devils: The Carolina Hurricanes are coming off an overtime loss Friday evening taking on a hungry New Jersey Devils squad looking to get a win and lock in a playoff berth! Carolina is in tough, on the back end of consecutive games they are 5-15 in their last 20. Fridays overtime loss officially eliminated Carolina from the playoffs, I see this game as a huge let down game. Add to the fact that Carolina is 13-19 against teams with winning records and 5-11 on games played on Saturday this year, every sign points directly to a New Jersey victory! New Jersey is a highly motivated team right now, they need one point in their last 4 games to guarantee a playoff spot. They are focused on their goal, as forward Zach Parise said, ``we have to keep winning.`` The Devils mentality will be the exact opposite of the Canes as they are determined to push towards another playoff run. Ilya Kovalchuk has been unstoppable in his career against Carolina with 67 points in 55 games. With 77 points in 73 games on the season, look for Kovalchuk to have a huge game Saturday night! Martin Brodeur is expected to start in net for New Jersey, with 28 wins on the season hes looking to reach the 30 win plateau for the 14th time in his storied career. In his last 20 games against Carolina, Brodeur has a record of 14-6, look for Brodeur to lock down the victory. Carolina has not announced who will start in net Saturday night, regular starter Cam Ward took the loss Friday night giving up 4 goals on 35 shots. In his last 10 games against New Jersey, Ward is 2-7-1. Backup goalie Brian Boucher has started 6 games this year and may get the nod with the Canes being officially eliminated from the playoff run and having played Friday night. Boucher has a season GAA of 3.23 and save % of .887. *10* TOP PLAY on the NEW JERSEY DEVILS!
