Game: Indiana Pacers at San Antonio Spurs Mar 31 2012 8:35PM
Prediction: San Antonio Spurs
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: I'm laying the points with the Spurs on Saturday. San Antonio is well-rested and that situation has been "money," with the Spurs on a 5-1 ATS run when playing with more than one day off between games. But more importantly, San Antone has the best coaching staff in the NBA, in my opinion, leading the way to incredible team chemistry. The Spurs have not only had to deal with aging veterans, but this team has gone through more of their share of injuries. But as we have seen, they have been better prepared to deal with this condensed season than just about any other team in the league. San Antone currently has 11 players averaging at least 20 minutes played per game. And they're not just guys "filling-in" while star players catch a blow. Instead, players like Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard (one of the steals of the draft) are making a difference. And adding Stephen Jackson to the mix was a fantastic move. Indiana now has to face this ultra-deep team that also hasn't played since Wednesday. The Spurs, on a 21-7-1 ATS run overall, have covered five straight at home, where they're 17-7 ATS on the season. The total on this game is 202 1/2 as I type my analysis. That's an important note because the Spurs will push the tempo against teams that will oblige. San Antone is on an 8-1 ATS run when the total is 200 or higher. They have averaged 111 ppg in the nine outings. Meanwhile, Indiana had Friday off, but this will be their 8th game in 12 days and they have covered just 8 of their last 26 when playing at least 8 games in 14 days or less. They're also on a 9-25 ATS slide when getting between 6 1/2 & 9 points. The Spurs continue their pursuit of OKC as they attempt to win their 7th straight game overall. I believe they will...and by a wide margin. I'm laying the points with the Spurs on Saturday. Thanks! GL! Scott.
