Game: Louisville at Kentucky Mar 31 2012 6:05PM
Prediction: Kentucky
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: Louisville vs. Kentucky – (6:05 EST) the Cardinals and Wildcats don’t like each other and this is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of all time for basketball fans the State of Kentucky. A ticket to the National Championship game is on the line as well as big time bragging rights. Not many expected the fourth seeded Cardinals to advance to the Final Four with Michigan State, Marquette and Missouri in their bracket. They shocked top seed Michigan State two games back 57-44 as 5.5-point dogs as they limited the Spartans to 28% shooting. Then in the Elite 8 they came from behind to stop a hot Florida team 72-68 despite allowing the Gators to hit 50% from the field. They got the money again in that Florida game covering as 1-point dogs for their eight straight ATS win. Meanwhile, KY opened with a 15-point non-cover over Western KY, failing to cover as 26-point favorites. However, they led by over 30 points at one point and didn’t want to embarrass their fellow KY foe. They’ve since rolled over Iowa State by 16 points, Indiana by 12 when they put up 102 points, and last weekend crushed Baylor by 12 in a game they were leading most of the way by 20 points. They ride into this game on a 3-game ATS winning streak. These two teams met earlier this season, back on New Year’s Eve in Kentucky, and the Wildcats won by seven points 69-62 but failed to cover as 10-point favorites. In that game, Kentucky had their worst shooting game of the season hitting only 29% of their shots including 3 of 16 from long range. However, the most telling numbers in that game was Kentucky shot 43 free throws. Louisville can’t handle Kentucky’s size and quickness. That game was back in December and this game is 90 days later. This young Kentucky team is much better now than they were 25 games ago. Louisville has had a great season and over achieved so kudos to the Cardinals. But their run comes to a halt tonight versus this powerful Kentucky team! We used Kentucky over Baylor and were using them tonight to get an easy double digit win. Play on Kentucky.
