Game: San Jose Sharks at Anaheim Ducks Mar 28 2012 10:05PM
Prediction: San Jose Sharks
Grade: Loser (-125)
Reason: At 10:05 pm, our selection is on the San Jose Sharks over the Anaheim Ducks. Every NHL season, hockey fans may take for granted the fact that the San Jose Sharks will be the Champions of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference and in fact that has been the case for the last four seasons and five of the last seven. (And in the two seasons they didn't finish first, the Sharks came in second.) And in fact if you took it for granted this season once again, you'd be correct so far, but the Sharks' lead in the Division is extremely tenuous - one point over Dallas and Phoenix and two points over Los Angeles - which is not something we're used to. The bad news for them is that four of their last six games of the regular season are on the road, but the good news is that the first one of those is against the Ducks, a team that looked like it might also challenge for the Division Title about a month ago, but which has completely fallen apart since then and is now all-but-eliminated from the post-season. After their win on February 26, the Ducks were 27-25-10 which is not great but actually had them in contention, but since that time, Anaheim has gone just 5-8-1. The road team has won the last four in this series, and the Ducks are an awful 13-25 this year vs. winning teams. Take San Jose tonight. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
