Lenny D's 25* CBI Game of the Year (won NIT, CIT): Former linesmaker Lenny Del Genio is now on an 8-1 Run in CBB following last night's 25* NIT Game of the Year win w/ Stanford! On Sunday, he cashed his 25* CIT GOY on Utah St (105-81)! He goes for "the Trifecta" on Wednesday w/ the CBI version & be on the lookout Saturday for the BIG ONE - his NCAA Tourney Game of the Year!
Game: Washington St. at Pittsburgh Mar 28 2012 7:00PM
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: Play on Pittsburgh at 7:00 ET. The CBI Championship is played in a best 2 of 3 format, all at home sites. Washington State drew first blood in Game 1, coming from behind at the half to defeat Pittsburgh at home, 67-66. There was a significant line move against Wazzu in that matchup and for good reason. The Cougars were playing without leading scorer Brock Motum (18.1 PPG), who injured his ankle in the CBI semifinal win over conference rival Oregon State and remains questionable here for Game 2. Keep in mind that the Cougars were already without second leading scorer Faisal Aden (14.5 PPG), who was lost for the season some time ago. No other player on the squad averages double figures in scoring. The line for Game 2 has swung significantly and for good reason. This is a spot we jumped on big in last year's CBI Championship series; that being taking the Game 1 loser in Game 2. There we cashed Oregon by nine points in a 71-58 victory over Creighton. In fact, looking back, we've seen three of the previous four CBI Finals go the full distance (three games). 2010 was the exception. Pittsburgh knows it let a golden opportunity slip away in Game 1 and should come out strong here on their home court. If they win, which we certainly expect them to, the Panthers would play host in Game 3 on Friday. Can't see Wazzu shooting 51% again, particularly on the road where they are 8-12 this season. Pitt is 13-7 at home this year, including two double digit wins here in this tournament. Pitt is our 25* CBI Game of the Year.
