Guaranteed Pick: Lenny Del Genio

Lenny D's 15* MLB OPENER **6 AM ET - WEDNESDAY**: The 2012 MLB season officially gets underway Wednesday at 6 AM ET in Japan w/ the Seattle Mariners vs. the Oakland A's, and former linesmaker Lenny Del Genio has the oddsmakers edge! Lenny closed last MLB season (another winning year!) on an 11-6-1 October Run incl a 4-2 record in the World Series! PLAY BALL!

Game: Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics Mar 28 2012 6:10AM
Prediction: Oakland Athletics
Grade: Loser (-100)
Reason: Play on Oakland at 6:10 AM ET. AL West rivals open the season in the Far East. These two teams figure to be battling for last place in the division throughout the season and far off the likely pace set by the Angels and Rangers. Felix Hernandez will get the baseball for the Mariners and while many will be tempted to "get their feet wet" by laying what looks like a small number, we respectfully disagree. Seattle was a horrid money loser last year (-$2210) and was offensively inept, averaging a sorry 3.4 runs per game. Things don't figure to get much better this season as you can probably pencil this group in for another 90-loss campaign. The M's have lost 93+ games five of the last eight seasons, "bottoming out" w/ 2010's 101-loss campaign. Ichiro Suzuki, now 39, is showing signs of decline as LY was his first sub-200 hit season since coming to MLB. Four players in the every day lineup combine for 508 career hits, which is 100 less than Ichiro has over the last three seasons. Oakland has elevated Brandon McCarthy to the role of staff ace, and while that may seem debatable, he turned in a very solid 3.32 ERA in 25 starts last season. He should definitely be able to shut down a weak hitting Seattle team. Good value on the dog here. Take Oakland (w/ McCarthy).
