Game: Baylor at Kentucky Mar 25 2012 2:20PM
Prediction: Kentucky
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: Play on Kentucky at 2:20 ET. It's National Championship or bust for Coach Cal and company this year and with a potential media fervor on tap surrounding a possible Kentucky-Louisville Final Four matchup, at least the straight up result here remains in little doubt. We are also willing to lay the points w/ a Wildcats team that brought us home our Sweet 16 Game of the Year. UK scored a tournament high 102 points in that matchup, a revenge spot vs. Indiana, and while some might be calling for a letdown here, we're not buying it. UK has topped 80 pts in every tourney game thus far and should have little issue scoring on a Baylor defense that permitted 90 pts in its Big 12 Tourney exit against Missouri. The Wildcats have won every tournament game thus far by double digits The Bears really thrive on the offensive glass, but will be running into a superior athletic group here, led by possible POY Anthony Davis and Terrance Jones. Baylor likes a style that is basically going to play right into Kentucky's hands. You can't really count on the Bears to put forth back to back consistent efforts, even in this format. That's evident by the fact they covered back to back games only TWICE all season. While they did not cover against Xavier in the Sweet 16 (missed by a bucket), they were out to a huge lead before letting the Musketeers back in it. To put things in perspective, only SIX of Kentucky's wins this season have come by a margin less than what the oddsmakers are calling for here. Take Kentucky.
