Game: Baylor at Kentucky Mar 25 2012 2:20PM
Prediction: Baylor
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: For a number of different reasons I believe the value in this contest is on Baylor: I had Baylor last time out, and it failed in covering the spread by a bucket, beating Xavier 75-70 on Friday night. Quincy Acy dominated, scoring 20-points and grabbing 15-rebounds: “We’re just looking forward to go a little farther and make a little history,” Acy said. Perry Jones III chipped in 14-points. Pierre Jackson had 16-points and 10-assists. Note that Baylor is 9-6 ATS in its last 15 vs. good defensive teams that allow 64-points or less; also 6-3 ATS when playing with one or less days rest. On the other bench: The Wildcats exacted their revenge over the Hoosiers from a loss in the regular season, pulling away for a 102-90 victory. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored 24-points; Doron Lamb had 21. Darius Miller had 19-points. Marquis Teague chipped in with 14 points and Terrence Jones 12. Note that Kentucky is just 4-6 ATS this year in all neutral court games; also just 2-4 ATS this season when playing with one or less days rest. Bottom line: There is a lot of pressure on the Wildcats; a national championship is expected. Coach John Calipari knows his team is feeling the pressure: "I want them to have fun," he said. "I don't want them to feel all this. It seems there's only one team that's not allowed to lose in this tournament, and that's us." The win over the Hoosiers was an emotional one, as every talking head in the nation focused on the "revenge" factor from the loss in the regular season. I think that now sets today's game up perfectly as a small mental letdown spot for the Wildcats, leaving the backdoor open just enough for these talented and hungry Bears to sneak in with what I feel is a very healthy spread. I won't call for the outright upset, but I definitely feel this is too many points to be giving up...*10* play on BAYLOR!
