Game: Boston Celtics at Los Angeles Clippers Mar 12 2012 10:35PM
Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers
Grade: Loser (-110)
Reason: Play on LA Clippers at 10:35 ET. Both teams played Sunday and lost. While the Celtics had the minor benefit of playing earlier in the day, this situation actually works against them considering the advanced age of most of their roster and the fact it was also a high profile loss on National TV. Boston lost a back and forth game to the Lakers Sunday, 97-94, as five-point dogs. This is a team that has struggled mightily on the road, going 5-11 overall for the year including 1-7 last 8. During that eight-game stretch, they have averaged just 82.9 PPG on 42.8 percent shooting. The back to back scenario has not been kind to this team as they've gone 8-22 ATS since the start of last season. As alluded to earlier, the Clippers also lost at Staples Center yday, falling to division rival Golden State by a near identical score (97-93) as 7.5-point favorites. This team has not come out of the Break particularly strong and now trails the Lakers by one game in the Pacific Division. They were a disaster last night from the FT line, making only 19 of 35, wasting another fine effort from PG Chris Paul, who is averaging 27 PPG on 59% shooting w/ 8.7 APG over his L3 games. Can't see LA losing a third straight home game here, something they have not done in more than a year, particularly against such an aging and poor traveling opponent.
