Game: Cornell at Yale Feb 25 2012 7:00PM
Prediction: Yale
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: Play on Yale at 7:00 ET. Second night in a row that the Bulldogs are drawing a nothing conference opponent as Cornell comes in three games under .500 and has no shot of extending its season beyond the end of the regular season. Again, as we mentioned yesterday, there is no Conference Tournament in the Ivy League. The regular season champ gets the automatic bid. Yale is still in contention for that honor, and as we also mentioned yday, they find themselves 'behind the 8-ball' after losing to rival Harvard last Saturday. That put the Bulldogs two games back of the first place Crimson with four to play. They got the job done as expected last night w/ a 75-67 here at home over Columbia. Even if Yale is unable to catch Harvard by season's end, winning out would be a 20-win season and likely berth in one of the minor postseason tournaments, either the NIT, CBI or CIT. They have the added motivation of revenge this evening. The Bulldogs only other loss besides Harvard in 2012 came by just a single point at Cornell back on February 10th. That game went to overtime and saw the Big Red get a big boost from Jonathan Gray (29 pts), who is only their fourth leading scorer for the season. Don't see that happening again. Yale is the highest scoring team in the Ivy League. Cornell had just five players score last night in a road win over a bad Brown team. This will be their fourth road game over the last two weekend. Yale is our 20* Ivy League Game of the Month.
