Game: Montana State at Montana Feb 25 2012 9:00PM
Prediction: Montana State
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: I'm taking the points with Montana State on Saturday night. There's a lot at stake for both of these teams besides the fact it's a big rivalry game. Montana needs a win here and a win over Weber State in their home finale if they wish to win the Big Sky regular season title. Montana State can wrap up a conference tourney spot with a win in this one. The first meeting of the season ended in a 67-58 Montana win...and it certainly wasn't easy. The Bobcats trailed by only 3 points, 56-53 with just over 4 minutes to go in the game, but couldn't grab the lead. There is a big difference heading into this one. Xavier Blount is out. While he was MSU's second-leading scorer, he managed just 4 points on 2 of 12 shooting (0-5 treys) in the loss. But now that Blount is gone, Shawn Reid has caught fire. Reid is getting more looks with Blount out, and he's averaged over 21 ppg in MSU's last 4 outings. Reid is getting more playing time and has room to operate, something he didn't have when these two met just 3 weeks ago. I believe he'll help keep this game close, hanging the number. Montana State is in a 31-8 ATS CBB situation, backing road teams off at least 7 straight losses if they have had 5 or 6 days rest. MSU has had 6 days to prep for this one. I'm grabbing the points with Montana State on Saturday night. Thanks! GL! Scott.
