Game: Northeastern at Delaware Feb 25 2012 12:00PM
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: This is the final home game of the regular season for Delaware and it enters Saturday riding a seven-game winning streak following its road win at Towson on Wednesday. The Blue Hens improved to 11-6 in the Colonial Athletic Association and those 11 CAA victories are the most since Delaware joined the league prior to the 2001-02 season so it has been a special season and one that is sitting under the radar. Delaware is locked into the fifth seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament but there is more to be played for. Northeastern burnt us on Wednesday as it defeated George Mason at home in overtime to improve to 9-8 in the conference. The Huskies are guaranteed to head into the conference tournament with a losing record however as they are 13-15 on the season and playing on the road has been an issue as they are 6-10 on the year. They are 3-5 in road conference games but those wins came against Towson, Hofstra and James Madison, which are a combined 7-44 in conference games. Even though they cannot move up or down in the standings, the Blue Hens will be playing for a win to send out their two reserve seniors with a last game home victory. Hakim McCullar and Samer Madarani will be honored in a pregame ceremony and a victory is also important to keep this momentum going. A loss would not be devastating but going into the conference tournament with eight straight wins would be big even though they drew last place Towson in the first round matchup on Friday. Delaware is also playing for some payback following a one-point setback in Boston last month as it shot just 2-10 from long range while going only 7-14 from the charity stripe. Both of those were complete aberrations as Delaware is strong in both departments. The Blue Hens are 8-3-1 at home this season and they are also 8-3-1 ATS following a win this year. They did not cover against Towson but are 26-12-1 ATS in their 39 games following a non-cover. 10* (506) Delaware Blue Hens
