Game: Colorado State at San Diego State Feb 25 2012 10:00PM
Prediction: San Diego State
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: To say San Diego St. is struggling would be an understatement. The Aztecs were riding high when February opened but they then lost three straight games including an embarrassing loss last Saturday at Air Force. They bounced back with a win Wednesday over Wyoming but it took overtime to do so. So they find themselves in a four-game stretch where not a lot has gone right and a continuation of this trend means the possibility of missing the NCAA Tournament which was a sure thing a short time ago. Colorado St. is riding high following a massive home win over New Mexico which had not lost in a month. The Rams improved to 17-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference and many believe that Colorado St. is in the NCAA Tournament because of that victory as well as an earlier victory over the Aztecs. The Rams do own a solid RPI of 25 thanks in part to a schedule that is ranked ninth toughest in the nation. But coming off that win, the Rams could be in a tough state of mind. Colorado St. has been awesome on its home floor, going 13-1 on the season including 6-0 in conference games. The road has had its issues though as the Rams are 2-8 overall and are winless in the MWC, going 0-5. Losses to UNLV and New Mexico were expected but they should not have come by 19 and 33 points respectively, Also, losses to TCU and Boise St. never should have happened in the first place. The only two road wins came against UTEP by three points and Northern Colorado which is 9-18 this season. This sets up a solid revenge spot for the Aztecs as they not only lost on Fort Collins but they were shellacked by 17 points which is their largest loss of the season. With games next week at Boise St. and TCU, this marks the final home game of the season which only adds to the motivation of putting up a big win. "It will be Senior Night, and we will come out and compete exceptionally hard, " coach Steve Fisher said. "We feel we have a payback coming." And that it will. 10* (664) San Diego St. Aztecs
