Game: Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres Feb 19 2012 12:35PM
Grade: Winner (100)
Reason: Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach NHL Sunday 8* (Regular Play) on OVER in Buffalo vs. Pittsburgh @ 12:30 p.m. ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins are keeping pace in the Eastern Conference, thanks to an explosive offense that buried six goals in a 6-4 victory over the rival Philadelphia Flyers Saturday. The Penguins have topped the total in four of their last six contests, going 4-1-1 over/under in that span. Pittsburgh totaled 19 goals in its last four outings, highlighted by Saturday’s win and an eight-goal effort versus the Winnipeg Jets last weekend. Evgeni Malkin record five points in that game and has 10 points in the Pens’ last six contests. Also adding to that scoring flurry is winger Chris Kunitz, who has eight points in his last four outings. That offensive depth will be tough for the Sabres to slow up Sunday afternoon. Buffalo has been blasted in its last two games, giving up a total of 11 goals in losses to the Flyers and Montreal Canadiens – playing over the total in both defeats. Former Vezina winner Ryan Miller was at a loss for words following the Habs game, telling reporters he’s embarrassed about his performance. Miller has given up seven goals on his last 36 shots faced, and has struggled to find his form all season with a swollen 2.82 GAA. The last time these teams clashed, the Penguins offense rolled over the Sabres for an 8-3 victory that blew the 5.5-goal total out of the water. Miller was yanked after allowing five goals on only 15 shots in that game.
Play on OVER in Buffalo as an 8* Regular Play Selection Sunday.
Good luck, Scott
