Game: Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars Feb 19 2012 7:05PM
Grade: Push (0)
Reason: At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars 'over' the total. Of all of the teams this season that are quietly putting up very good records, none has been quieter than the Nashville Predators. Of course we shouldn't be too surprised as this is a team that had 44 wins and 99 points last season and so far in 2011-2012, the Predators have won 33 games and have racked up 72 points and those numbers would be good enough for first or second place in any other division, but in the West's Central Division, it means Nashville is stuck in third place, seven points behind second-place St. Louis. The Stars on the other hand have largely struggled this season, with just 62 points in 58 games, and in an effort to shake things up, they just traded big veteran defenseman Niklas Grossman to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for two draft picks. Grossman would be a free agent at the end of the season and the Stars would have likely lost him so they wanted to get some prospects for him while they still could, but this move will hurt the Dallas defense the rest of this season and this is not a very good defense to begin with. Eight of the last ten meetings between these two have gone a total of five or more goals and the over is 17-6-7 in Nashville's last 30 games vs. the Pacific Division. Take the 'over.' As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
