What in the world has gone wrong with the Boston Celtics? Losers of six of their last eight games, the boys from Beantown failed to protect yet another fourth quarter lead on Sunday, losing 90-89 to the Lakers on Kobe Bryant's last second shot. It was the Celtics third straight loss overall and dropped them to 1-7 ATS over their last eight contests. They still do boast the league's best road record at 16-8, a mark they'll try and improve upon Monday night in the Nation's Capital where they desperately need a win over the Wizards.

Boston has yet to suffer a losing streak of more than three games this season. Their last four-game skid came a little over a year ago. Since a Christmas Day win over the Magic, the club has dropped 11 of 17 overall.

Making matters more frustrating for the Celtics is that they led the Lakers by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter. It was the second time in three games where Boston blew a double-digit second half lead.

Washington, meanwhile, will be looking for its first three-game winning streak of the year. In fact, the Wiz have not won three straight games since April of 2008! The previous two wins are hardly impressive, however, when you consider they came at the expense of the Nets and Knicks. The team is just 1-8 ATS this season when coming off an upset win as an underdog.

Boston won the only prior meeting this season, 104-102, here in D.C, but did not cover as 7.5-point road favorites. This time around, they will be favored by only five. Overall, the Celtics have beaten the Wizards four straight times having covered the spread in the previous three battles.
