Neither the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic have been trustworthy for NBA bettors lately as the two supposed Eastern Conference title contenders have combined to go just 2-8-1 against the spread these last two weeks. Thursday night on TNT, they'll meet in a Christmas Day rematch with Orlando opening as 3.5-point home favorites.

Boston, who won that Christmas Day game 86-77 as 5.5-point underdogs, have really been struggling at the betting window with five consecutive ATS losses. They lost three of those games, to Chicago, Dallas and at Detroit, outright. The team has since rebounded with back to back non-conference home wins over Portland and the Clippers, but was obviously unable to cover the double-digit spread in either game. Note that the Celtics are just 3-11 vs. the number this season when coming off a non-conference game.

Orlando has been a good in-season revenge team in recent years, going 34-17 ATS in that role. They are off a loss in Memphis Monday night, which normally is not a good thing, but considering the Magic's 34-12 ATS mark when coming off a road defeat, maybe it is.

Still there is plenty of concern right now in Orlando. They have been held under 44% shooting in nine times during a 14-game stretch that has seen them go just 5-9 straight up. Turnovers have also been an issue with the team coughing it up 19 times plus in four of the last seven games. Against Boston on Christmas Day, they were held to a season low 33% shooting.

They had 19 turnovers and shot only 42.3% in the loss to the Grizzlies, which snapped a three-game win streak. During that run, the Magic scored 100 or more points and had a margin of victory of at least nine points every game. Dwight Howard played very well the last two games, blocking 13 shots and collecting 35 rebounds.

Boston owns the league's best road record at 16-6 (11-11 ATS) while Orlando has gone 16-4 (10-9-1) at home.

Totals players have been cashing plenty of Under tickets with these two teams of late. The Celtics have gone Under in four of its last five and the Magic is on a long-term 8-2 Under streak.
