Cleveland made perhaps the biggest deal at the trade deadline by acquiring Ubaldo Jimenez from Colorado in exchange for two prized prospects in their farm system. Boston also added an arm to its rotation with Erik Bedard coming over from Seattle in a three-team deal.

The pitching matchup in tonight’s game should be a good one with Josh Tomlin opposing John Lackey. Lackey had an atrocious start to the season, but has won his last three starts (3.44 ERA). He has not faced the Indians yet this season.
Tomlin is actually trending in the other direction with Cleveland losing his last two starts. However, it’s tough to blame Tomlin as he allowed just two runs and four hits in eight innings against the Angels last time out & is 4-1 with a 3.81 ERA in his last eight starts.
Tomlin is 1-0 this season vs. Boston, beating Josh Beckett as a +150 underdog very early in the season. He allowed just one earned run on three hits over seven innings.
The total for tonight’s game has been set pretty high at 10 runs. The Red Sox are 40-13 at Fenway the last 53 times the over/under line has been set at 10 runs or higher.
Betting the over has also been a solid MLB pick this season when Boston is favored in this price range. The team is 20-4 Over this season as a home favorite of -125 to -175. Also, making a play on the Over attractive to MLB bettors is the fact that Cleveland is 20-5 on the road when the total is 10 or higher the last three seasons.
The Red Sox are 7-3 their last 10 home games against Cleveland. Offensively, this is a strong club at Fenway Park, where they average nearly six runs per game.
