After being bludgeoned for 20 runs and 26 hits Monday night, the Minnesota Twins showed some resolve last night in beating the Texas Rangers 9-8 as huge $2.00 underdogs. The oddsmakers aren’t giving them much of a shot Wednesday night though as they have opened +180 on the money line vs. Colby Lewis. Brian Duensing gets the start for Minnesota.

Last night’s loss was only the Rangers’ fourth in 19 games. This is a very strong team offensively, averaging over six runs per game at home. They are averaging 7.5 rpg the last eight days, but are interestingly just 4-4 over that time frame!

Minnesota has had Texas’ number the last three seasons, going 17-9 in head to head play. The Twins are just 22-30 on the road this season while Texas is 34-20 at home.
Rangers’ starter Lewis has not been a good
MLB pick when favored on the money line with a 17-22 team start record since the start of last season, dropping 16.4 units. He does have a 2.11 ERA his last three starts, all Texas wins. He’s 4-0 his last five starts overall.
Last night’s Twins victory was of the comeback variety as they found themselves down 7-3 after four innings and needed a two-run ninth to pull off the win.
Minnesota starters have obviously not fared well in this series and Brian Duensing will look to change that tonight. He was hammered for seven runs in his previous start, an 8-2 loss to Detroit, but was 3-0 with a 2.96 ERA in his four starts before that. Duensing did not do well in his only other start vs. Texas this year, a loss that saw him allow seven runs in two innings. The last two times Duensing has faced the Rangers, he has lost to lefty CJ Wilson.
Lewis has also not fared well when these two teams meet. He was even worse than Duensing in his only start this year vs. Minnesota, allowing six runs in 1.3 innings. He allowed 9 runs on 8 hits in a late season start last year vs. the Twins. In five career starts vs. tonight’s opponent, Lewis has an ERA of 9.41 with no wins.
If you are looking to bet the total here, take note that Texas is now 24-9 Over this season as a money line favorite of -150 or more.
