The Rangers were the hottest team in baseball betting when the All Star Break hit. The 2010 American League Champions have won seven straight games, outscoring opponents by a 53-22 margin. However, it’s worth noting that all seven wins came at home. Texas has been a much worse MLB pick on the road this season, scoring just 4.0 runs per game and going 20-23 overall.

Seattle has lost its last five games, all of those coming on the road. They were outscored 24-9 during this stretch. The Mariners have had some major issues facing left-handed starters this season and tonight will be matched up against Derek Holland, a southpaw that threw a complete-game, four hit shutout in his previous outing. For the year, Seattle is averaging only 2.8 runs per game vs. lefties while producing an 8-14 won-loss record.
The Mariners will start a lefty of their own in Jason Vargas. He too has pitched well of late with a 2.35 ERA his last three starts.
One good baseball trend to consider is that Seattle is just 2-16 when coming off back to back division road losses.
This will be the third series played between these division rivals this season. Texas swept Seattle in Arlington very early in the season while the M’s took two of three here at Safeco Field in early May.
