NY Yankees at Cleveland

(matchup)

The Cleveland Indians look to make it two straight upsets over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night as they have opened at +145 on the betting line, one night removed from winning 6-3 as +115 underdogs. To do so, they will have to beat former mate CC Sabathia, who is seeking to become the baseball’s first 12-game winner.
Unfortunately for underdog players, Sabathia has been a great MLB pick when a -150 favorite or higher on the betting line. His team start record in that role, stretch all the way back to his days in Cleveland, is 128-45 (+41.3 units).

Sabathia has won four straight starts and eight of his last nine. The hefty lefty was dominant in his last start, striking out a season high 13 and going 7.7 innings in a 5-0 win over Milwaukee. The Yankees have outscored their opponents 35-11 in Sabathia’s previous four outings. CC is just 1-1 in four starts vs. his former team, posting a 3.86 ERA.
The Yankees have lost two straight after a seven-game win streak in Interleague Play. They have taken 14 of 21 games against the Indians, including three of four earlier this season at home.
Cleveland will also be sending one of its best arms to the mound. Carlos Carrasco has a 1.69 ERA his last three starts, a stretch that has seen him walk just one batter over 21.3 innings. He did allow three unearned runs in a 4-3 loss at San Francisco two starts ago. Carrasco followed that up with a 6-2 win over Arizona, matching a season high with seven strikeouts.
The Indians have been a very good home team this season, going 25-14 and up 11.8 units. They have lost six of their last nine to New York at Progressive Field. After taking the final game of a four-game set in the Bronx earlier in the year, Cleveland will be looking to win three straight vs. the Yankees for the first time since 2006.
Derek Jeter went 0 for 4 yesterday in his return from the disabled list. Jeter is only five hits away from becoming the first Yankee to ever record 3,000 hits and Bodog Sportsbook is celebrating
