Colorado at LA Dodgers
Wednesday, June 1st, 10:10 PM
(matchup)

At this time last year, Colorado Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez looked like the best starter in baseball. This season, he can’t buy a win. Jimenez, who is 0-5 in nine starts, will try and stop not only his own personal woes, but his team’s as well Wednesday night in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
The Rockies are just 1-8 when Jimenez starts this season. At this point last year, he was 10-1 with a 0.78 ERA. Jimenez has not recorded a win since last September 17th and since that time Colorado is 1-11 when he starts. He is off a terrible showing last weekend vs. St. Louis, allowing six runs and 12 hits in a 10-3 loss.
Even last year, Jimenez did not pitch well vs. the Dodgers, losing three of four starts against them, and that mirrors Colorado’s overall struggles vs. their NL West rivals. The Dodgers have been a great
baseball pick when facing the Rockies, going 27-13 the last 40 head to head meetings, including 2-0 in this series. Oddsmakers have opened LA as a +105 underdog on the betting line as they look to complete a three-game sweep this evening.
Neither of these first two games of this series has been close with the Dodgers winning by scores of 7-1 and 8-2. MLB totals players should take note that Los Angeles is a perfect 9-0 Over the total when coming off back to back division wins by six runs or more!
Colorado is just 1 for 15 with runners in scoring position in this series. They have lost 10 of their last 12 games.
Overall, LA has won three straight games, a season high, and all by a wide margin. After scoring only 35 runs in their previous 14 games, the team has totaled 23 runs the last three days.
Jon Garland will get the start for the home team tonight. He is off a strong outing vs. Florida where he allowed just one run on five hits in 6.3 innings of work.
