Florida at Arizona

(matchup)

The two biggest surprises in National League baseball betting begin a series on Memorial Day with the Florida Marlins taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks. These are two of the biggest money makers for
baseball picks with Florida +8.7 units and Arizona at +9.1 units. The Diamondbacks are the hottest team in the Senior Circuit right now with six straight wins and a sweep of Houston.
Oddsmakers have opened up Arizona as a small home favorite here. The Diamondbacks are now in first place in the National League West for the first time since late in the 2008 season. Overall, they have won 14 of their last 16. They are averaging 5.3 runs per game at home where they’ve won six straight.
The pitching matchup, always important to look at when making
baseball picks, is unfortunately not ideal. Florida starts Chris Volstad, who has a 6.65 ERA in four road starts while Arizona goes with Joe Saunders has a 6.25 ERA in five home starts. Saunders has never faced the Marlins before, but has a 17-4 team start record if he allowed two or more home runs in his previous outing. Despite allowing a pair of home runs against Colorado last Tuesday, Saunders still was on the winning side of a 5-2 decision vs. Colorado.
Florida is off an 8-0 loss yesterday to the Dodgers. Baseball bettors will be interested to know that the Marlins are 15-5 when off a loss this season.
