NY Yankees at Seattle
Saturday, May 28th, 10:10 PM

(matchup)

For a second consecutive night, the Seattle Mariners will be favored against the New York Yankees. They won last night as -115 favorites, 4-3, their eighth win in the last nine games overall. Today, the betting odds have them at -135 due to the fact that ace Felix Hernandez is on the hill.

At last for awhile, the Yankees looked like a good MLB pick as they led the Mariners 3-0 early, but could not hold on as they managed only five hits for the game. Avoiding back to back losses may be difficult against King Felix, who has beaten New York four straight times while posting a 0.52 ERA in those outings. The Yanks have not lost back to back games since suffering through a six-game skid at home two weeks ago.

New York had won three straight and 7 of 9 on the road prior to last night’s loss. They also came in hitting .283 over the last nine games.

Seattle scored all four of its runs on groundouts yesterday. Of course, the Mariners haven’t needed to score much recently as their pitching staff has a 1.64 ERA the last 11 games with the bullpen allowing only two runs total over the last 23+ innings.

It’s always important to analyze the pitching matchup when making MLB Picks. The Yankees start Ivan Nova, who is 2-0 with a 0.71 ERA his last two road starts. He did allow a career high 11 hits vs. the Mets in Sunday’s 9-3 win.
