The Cincinnati Reds find themselves one-half game behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the N.L. Central after dropping one to Atlanta last night on a fluke walk-off grand slam that tipped off the outfielders glove. Tonight, they renew their “Ohio Cup” rivalry with cross-state foe Cleveland.
The $1.25 chalk Reds (23-18) have won nine of the last 12 meetings, but still trail the Indians in the all-time series 32-31. Going for Cincinnati tonight will be righty Bronson Arroyo who has won his last two starts. Arroyo has just a 5-17 TSR when on the road as a favorite of $1.00 to $1.25. he has however gone Under the total in 10 of 11 games as a favorite of $1.00 to $1.50.
Cleveland (15-24) has been strapped with injuries as both Asdrubal Cabrera and Grady Sizemore have found their ways onto the Disabled List. In their place batting #1 and #2 are Trevor Crowe and Jason Donald, both of whom were playing at Triple-A Columbus a week ago. It is no surprise that the Indians have lost four straight games. In the streak they are batting just .199 at the plate. Indians right-hander Jake Westbrook has won his last two starts and is looking to win three straight for the first time since Sept. 18-30, 2006.
