2007 ACC Preview (Posted July 9th)
Now that former Big East members Boston College, Miami Florida and Virginia Tech have settled
comfortably into the ACC, the conference has stamped itself “major league” on both football and
basketball fronts. The ultimate stamp of approval will come when a member of the ACC member makes
it to the BCS title game. Here is one handicapper’s take on the ACC for 2007...
2007 Big Ten Preview (Posted July 9th)
The Big Ten Conference landed three teams in season-ending Top 10 polls in 2006. One of them owns
the best record of all teams in the conference the past three years, and it isn’t Michigan or
Ohio State. Surprised? We were, too. Here is one handicapper’s take on the Big Ten for 2007...
2007 Big 12 Preview (Posted July 13th)
They say quantity never outweighs quality, yet hope forever springs eternal at the start of each
football season when it comes to the Big 12 Conference (see Mack Brown). A handful of teams will
fit nicely into this year’s Top 25 preseason poll. The question, however, is whether one is
strong enough to win a National Championship. Here is one handicapper’s take on the Big 12 for
2007...
2007 Big East Preview (Posted July 13th)
The Big East Conference proved its worth in spades last season when they went a perfect 5-0 in
bowl games. To top it off, the overall win percentage (.644) of all teams in the Big East was
higher than any Division 1-A conference in 2006. Who needs the likes of Boston College, Miami
Florida and Virginia Tech? Here is one handicapper’s take on the Big East for 2007...
2007 Conference USA Preview (Posted July 24th)
The prospectus says Conference USA features 12 nationally prominent, tradition-rich members, a
combination that enhances programs that are steeped in athletic success and academic prowess. In
other words, they are academically refined but pigskin poor. We call them the not-yet-ready-for
prime-time-bunch: the C-USA. Here is one handicapper’s take on Conference USA for 2007...
2007 Independents Preview (Posted July 24th)
Just three teams make up the Independents, yet all three have a unique bearing on the outcome of
the National Championship BCS game for 2007. Rest assured, without a conference affiliation, this
self-governing triumvirate holds plenty of veto power when it comes to dashing the dreams of many
BCS Championship Game aspirants. Here is one handicapper’s take on the Independents for 2007...
2007 MAC Preview (Posted July 25th)
After 13 straight winning seasons, Miami Ohio finally tasted a losing campaign last year. The
RedHawks, along with Toledo, look to be on a mission in 2007. Will they find their way back to
the winner’s circle, or are they doomed to repeat their losing ways this year? Better yet, is
the MAC attack back? Here is one handicapper’s take on the Mid American Conference for 2007...
2007 MWC Preview (Posted July 25th)
The Mountain West Conference looks to be growing to new heights. BYU appears perched atop and
ready to reclaim their position in the conference pecking order, while TCU might have something
to say about who sits where in the MWC this year. The bottom line is this mini-conference is
scaling to new levels. Here is one handicapper’s take on the Mountain West Conference for 2007...
