The 2009 edition of the Baltimore Ravens won nine games in the regular season, knocked off perennial playoff power New England 33-14 on the road as a 3.5-point underdog only to lose to AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts 20-3 in the AFC Semifinals. Head Coach John Harbaugh has really done his due diligence in his first two seasons at the helm going 24-14 SU and making money for the NFL Football betting public going 23-13-1 ATS.
During the 2009 Season, NFL fans watched the future of the Ravens offense mature. Second-year quarterback Joe Flacco took his game to another level. He completed over 63% of his passes for over 3,600 yards and 21 touchdowns. He did this without the help of a “true” number one receiver. It didn’t hurt that running back Ray Rice in just his second-year as well accounted for over 2,000 yards of offense. He led the team in receptions at 78 on the season. These two helped the offense average 32 more yards of offense per game in 2009 than the Ravens did in 2008. The defense led by Ray Lewis stayed on par with years past as they have replaced veterans with talented younger players.
As successful as they were in 2009, the Baltimore Ravens have found a way to improve their overall team talent. Through free-agency they brought in a number one receiver in Anquan Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals and also bolstered their aging receiving corps with Donte’ Stallworth who is a year removed from serious legal trouble. Defensively they drafted a pair of bigger names from the College game in 6’3” 250 pound OLB/DE Sergio Kindle out of Texas and 6’4” 354 pound DT Terrence Cody from Oklahoma. These young playmakers are expected to learn from some of the best and get well acquainted with the Ravens vicious defense.
The 2010 schedule is not too difficult and not too easy. They open up the season at the Meadowlands to face the New York Jets, the same team that made it all the way to the Conference Championship game last season. Then they travel to Division foe Cincinnati in Week Two. The Bengals took both games from the Ravens in low scoring affairs. Other AFC North opponents Pittsburgh and Cleveland are looking like they will have down years. At New England in Week Six and home against New Orleans in Week 15 are their only other playoff opponents from last season. With all said, we believe the Ravens should win 12-13 regular season games in 2010. NFL Football betting with Baltimore in 2010 should once again be a positive experience.
